Secrets to being the Best Super Bowl Party Guest Ever

With the big game around the corner, you may be invited to a Super Bowl party or two. We usually like to host big events like this one, but now that we’ve moved into a much smaller space we’ll be guests at the parties this year. For the host, throwing a party can be a stressful endeavor so I’m using this experience to teach the boys a few things I’ve learned about being the best party guests ever.
RSVP
Don’t wait until the last minute to let your host know if you’re coming. Everything at a party depends on numbers--from space to food. Respond as soon as you can and don’t forget to ask if you’d like to bring a guest.
Offer to Bring Something
And if they say no bring something anyway. It could be anything from an appetizer to flowers to a handwritten card. This year I’m bringing Febreze AIR along to help get rid of those Super Bowl food smells that tend to linger too long after the party. Never Arrive Early
Unless requested by the host, I don’t recommend being early to the party. I know from experience things usually run a few minutes behind. Try and time your arrival a few minutes after start time to give your host a chance to get everything just right.
Talk to People You Don’t Know
As a host, there’s nothing worse than feeling like you have to babysit a guest who’s in the corner being anti-social. Even if it feels outside of your comfort zone, get up and mingle. It’s perfectly acceptable to introduce yourself to the party :)
Help Clean Up
Help put food away, do the dishes, clean up a spill, offer to take food off their hands, sweep--anything you can do to help! It’s always so nice when there’s an extra hand to get the house in order the host can relax when the party's over. And if you really want to be party MVP, grab the Febreeze AIR you brought over and spray the Super Bowl odors away ;)
Don’t Overstay Your Welcome
You don’t want to be the first to arrive or the last one to leave. When the host is yawning or they’ve started packing up the food, take a hint. Grab your things, thank everyone, smile then head out the door.
Thank Them Again
I think it’s a sweet gesture to thank your host again the day after the party. Whether a text, phone call or a good, old-fashioned note letting them know you had a great time will mean a lot and more than likely guarantee an invite for the next get together.
