3 Quick Ways to Get Your Home Ready for the Holidays

Anyone else feel like the holiday season snuck up on us this year? I certainly do! If you aren’t quite ready for the festivities and need a little push to get in the holiday spirit, I’ve come up with three quick + helpful ways to guide you in the right path of getting your home fresh and festive so you can get back to what matters most: enjoying time with loved ones. Everything can be found at Home Depot and will make your home look + feel more inviting for you and all of your holiday guests.
Tidy Up Your Space
Prep your home for decorating by cleaning first. I start by decluttering every room, throwing away any trash, putting every item in it’s place, then a thorough dust + vacuum to make our place shine. Bonus tip: throw on some holiday music while cleaning. Nothing is more festive than dancing around your home singing your favorite songs as loudly as possible. ;)
Place Holiday Greenery
Before you pull out the tree ornaments, sparkly displays or spools of ribbon, first grab the greens! It’s the easiest way to add drama without taking up too much time. I always choose the fresh garland and wreaths from Home Depot. They are very inexpensive and add a ton of cheer! A bannister, mantel, windows and bookcases are perfect areas to dress up with greenery. Keep the garland and wreaths natural, or if you want to add some glitz and glam, tuck in pins that feature pearl drops, sequins or glitter.
Use Seasonal Scents
This last step is my favorite because it completes the holiday atmosphere in your home. We tend to associate certain aromas with the season so infusing your space with holiday smells is just as important as decorating. This year, we’re using Glade® fragrances to give off the festive flair we love. We have two scents on rotation: Glade® Enchanted Evergreen & Glade® Nutcracker Delight. They have both available as oil or candle. I personally like to pair them together so that our house smells amazing around the clock—and candles always make a space feel extra cozy and warm, which is perfect for the holidays! ♡
It’s amazing how quickly those 3 tricks transform a space and a mood! We’re all in the holiday spirit over here and can’t wait to bake cookies and get our tree up later this evening.
