4 Unexpected Benefits after Volunteering with O-Cedar

This post is sponsored by O-Cedar®, however all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that help make this blog possible.

A few weeks ago I was gifted one of the best presents I’ve ever received: the ProMist® MAX Microfiber Spray Mop from O-Cedar®. Seriously. My love language is less cleaning and this magical mop speaks that fluently. As many of you know, we live in a small apartment with three boys who track our floor with all the dust, dirt and outside things! Thanks to my new eco-friendly spray mop, I’m able to tackle the messy floors easily with just 2 tablespoons of natural cleaner mixed with water. Not only is it easy to use, the 100% machine washable mop head makes it eco-friendly. The ProMist® MAX Microfiber Spray Mop is turning me into that mom with the shiny, clean home I have always wanted to be.

Then just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, it did.

The O-Cedar® team invited me to volunteer with them at the Habitat for Humanity home they are building here in Atlanta! I was completely honored, excited + unaware of all the benefits that would take place during and after my first volunteer experience with Habitat. Service and volunteer work have always been an important part of my life, but truth is my experience with the O-Cedar® team on this project impacted me in ways I did not expect:

  1. Changed Perspective

Did you know that Habitat does not give away houses for free, but instead makes the dream of home ownership possible through affordable mortgages and “sweat equity”? I did not! Furthermore, the money that Habitat owners pay through their monthly mortgage payments goes toward funding other houses. Homeowners are literally investing and blessing their communities!

  2. Growth

In the past, I’ve been guilty of volunteering just to volunteer. But Habitat won my head and transformed my heart. I grew in knowledge and in love for the goodness of people. I also picked up a few new skills that would make my contractor dad very proud.

  3. Immense Joy

We all know that volunteering makes us feel good. But my time with Habitat left my cheekbones tingling from all the laughing and smiling I shared with other volunteers!

  4. New Friends

Habitat builds are a great way to network and meet people in your community. I was able to work alongside local volunteers + the wonderful team at O-Cedar®, hang out with HGTV’s Property Brothers, and meet Krushetta, the mom who will soon live with her boys in their beautiful new home.

A few facts about Habitat for Humanity I found really interesting:

*Habitat is located in the U.S. and over 70 countries around the world.

*They build new homes, but also repair and rehab existing homes with focus on energy efficiency.

*Whenever possible, Habitat works with local materials.

*They offer youth programs for volunteers as young as 5! (Lew and I are especially excited about this one).

It means so much to stand next to O-Cedar® and support their efforts in helping Habitat for Humanity enhance the lives of others. I will forever be a fan of this incredible company after meeting so many of their team members and seeing first hand their heart for community.
